Six weeks old!

Some of the things that he does already just amaze me. This morning when he woke up I got him out of his crib and took him into the living room to lay down on my chest. He was dozing off again with his pacifier in his mouth and I was patting his back. All of a sudden, he took his hand and wrapped it around the end of his pacifier. I watched him sit there like that for a minute, as if he were deciding whether or not it would really be worth it to take that pacie out of his mouth. Within moments he made the decision, and jerked the pacie out, flinging his head around in an attempt to stay awake. Just as suddenly he lay his head back on my chest, and apparently decided he wanted his pacie back in his mouth. Unfortunately he does not yet have the skill to move his hand where he desires, so I looked on for a few moments longer while he flung the pacie around hopelessly, trying to make it meet his mouth. What is really funny is that he will get the pacie within his vision, and then try to move his head to find it with his mouth. Obviously I didn't watch this for too long before he got angry and I helped him put the pacifier back in his mouth. It just amazes me to watch him learn and build his motor skills every day.

My other favorite thing now is burping him. Not because his burps are so special, but because as I pat his back, he pats mine. I lay him high up on my shoulder and he pats me very gently on the back. It is the sweetest thing ever.
